Regrettably, even in the 21st century, the topic of racial inequality has not yet outlived itself. And to this day there are people who primarily look not at a person’s achievements, but at the color of his skin.
Such remnants of the past must be fought, especially now that the world is open to travel and communication. And art can cope with this task as well as possible.
For example, by showing films that clearly show the audience that racism is a disgusting rudiment of history.
10. Time to kill | 1996
In Mississippi, two white men brutally abused a little black girl, then tried to kill her.
Surviving a terrible grief, the father of the poor thing cannot calmly accept the fact that criminals are not threatened with the death penalty or life imprisonment. In a fit of rage, he shoots rapists in the courtroom.
Now the young lawyer will have to prove to the jury that if the girl with the white skin were in the place of the victim, they would not have to think long about whether the father was guilty or not.
9. Chauffeur Miss Daisy | 1989
Friendship often arises between people who in the first minutes of meeting were sure that they certainly could not have anything in common. The son of a widowed rich American hires a driver for her mother to accompany her everywhere.
Miss Daisy is not very pleased with this prospect, as she is afraid of change. Moreover, Mr. Hawke, her chauffeur, is an African American. And although Miss Daisy does not leave the feeling that there can be no worse driver, she does not even realize how close and warm friendship her relationship with the driver will turn into. And over the next 25 years, their friendship will only grow stronger.
8. Selma | 2014
Selma is a city in which the sad and terrible events of the film take place. It was Selma in the 60s of the 20th century that was shocked by horrible murders and attempts on the basis of racial intransigence.
Dr. Martin Luther King is trying to prove to the president how important it is for blacks to have equal rights with other Americans, especially in the electoral environment.
White terrorists and even the state governor themselves resist and do not want to hobnob with black people. But faith and loyalty to beliefs make Luther King not give up and continue to struggle with an established and ossified system.
7. Away | 2017
The satirical horror film “Away” tells the story of the black photographer Chris, who is actively passionate about building a romantic relationship with the white girl Rose Armitage. She takes him to her parents to introduce.
At first, everything seems harmless in the house, but soon Chris notices that the black housekeeper and gardener working here behave rather strangely.
Soon, Rose's parents arrange a reception where all their rich friends come together. For unknown reasons, guests are showing increased interest in Chris. The young man begins to suspect that something is wrong with his girlfriend, and her parents conceived something unkind.
6. Amistad | 1997
Amistad is the name of the ship on which a group of black slaves tries to return to their homeland. They capture a floating vessel, kill almost the entire crew and make incredible efforts to quickly get ashore.
Unfortunately, fate does not favor them at all. The ship brings to the territory of the United States, where fugitive slaves are going to be judged for their crimes and incredible thirst for life and freedom.
5. 12 years of slavery | 2013
The story of violent capture and slavery for many years as a free black musician.
Solomon Northup and his family come on tour in Washington. He does not realize that the next day he will wake up in a cold cell, shackled in shackles. Cruel people transport Solomon to New Orleans in order to turn into a full and disenfranchised slave.
He has a long way to go, 12 years long, to return to normal life.
4. To kill a mockingbird | 1962
In the center of the plot is a good, but advocate for justice, lawyer. Atticus Finch must defend the rights of an African American who is falsely accused of raping a white woman.
To resolve the current conflict, he will have to confront racial prejudices, which completely occupy the minds of Alabama residents.

3. Servants | 2011
Skiter Filan, a young and confident girl, returns to her hometown to find work. She settles in the Jackson Journal, where she receives the task of writing articles on the topic of housekeeping.

Listening to her stories and watching the hard life of other black maids, Skeeter decides to write a book about the hardships of such women ’lives in order to draw public attention to harsh reality. But not everyone supports Skeeter in her intention.
2. American History X | 1999
The story of the life, struggle and confrontation of two brothers: Danny and Derek Vinyardov. For most of his life, Derek was an ardent neo-Nazi and confronted both African Americans and Asian people by all means, including illegal ones. Such a life will soon lead the elder Vinyard to prison.
But Danny, always admiring Derek, decides to follow in his brother's footsteps and join the growing ranks of neo-Nazis.
After leaving prison, Derek realizes with horror what Danny’s life is turning into and what a monstrous example he set for his younger brother at the time. The brothers will have to reap the fruits of this imitation together.
