A curious article was spotted on one of America’s resources - Americans are told about how to behave in the Russian Federation (it turns out that not only us are concerned about the rules of America, but also about our Americans). For example, for a typical American, it is considered quite normal to go to your house and go to bed in shoes, but for us it’s wild! In general, what they tell about us is interesting, so do not take your time by spending it reading an article.
10. Dressing too easy
Americans are sure - if you want to impress, you need to look 100% in Russia! In everyday life, Americans wear simple, loose clothes, comfortable shoes, and women do not dye themselves. In our country, women spend more than an hour in the morning to put themselves in order: they do their hair, dye, and put on high-heeled shoes. In general, they gather like a holiday. If the room will consist of Americans and Russians, then the first in it will be the most "gray", regardless of gender. But Americans are trying to look beautiful, if they go to dinner, important events.
9. Pay a chipper
Inviting a woman somewhere - a date or a meeting, you know - she will not pay for herself. This is the duty of a man, so he must make sure that he has taken enough money with him. This applies to the theater, cinema, and restaurant ... If you offer her to pay for dinner herself or buy a ticket, this is risky, you can no longer see each other. Perhaps she left the money at home. A typical Russian woman may take her wallet with money, but this will mean that the man is not interesting to her, and she perceives him as a friend.
8.
The phrase “To your health!”, Which is often used by Russians, is pronounced when a person is responsible to another for the gratitude of the dish he has prepared. Americans don’t know about it. People who speak other languages think this phrase is for toast. But you can also find long expressions, Russians prefer to come up with difficult phrases. But the Russians’ toast sounds short: “For you!”
7. To burp in public
If you, being somewhere among the Americans, allowed yourself to burp - wait for surprised looks. But if this still happened - no need to apologize, because each of us can happen by chance. Apologizing, you will only attract unwanted attention to the deed. The Russians, if this happens, will experience extreme discomfort, they will pretend that someone else burping nearby, not him. Try to keep belching in yourself or somewhere alone, otherwise you will be remembered.
6. Come empty-handed
It doesn’t matter who you are visiting, but you simply have to buy or take something with you: for example, a cake or a toy for a child. It is not customary for Russians to come without a gift. If you do this, then the husband and wife can discuss this act among themselves, they will seem ugly to them. The Russian owners also do not skimp when they are expecting guests: specially for their arrival, they buy some products and prepare a dish. Even if they don’t do this, they will nevertheless treat their guest with something.
5.
There is a saying “give the last shirt,” which is used by the Russians, and it literally means what is said. Russian residents usually offer their guest everything they have: food, decor items, some items from their wardrobe. But they do not offer things or food out of a desire to get rid of it - it's just so customary to do it out of politeness. If you want to seem like a decent person, give up everything that is offered to you. The owners will stand their ground, and yet you can take something, but in return then give something as well.
4. Do not take off shoes in someone’s house
Entering an apartment in Russia, everyone should take off his shoes. Russian streets are very dusty, and the inhabitants of the country walk a lot on the earth. They are not accustomed to moving only by car, and then immediately go into the house. Russians, going into the apartment, change their shoes in slippers. If someone is going to a party, they usually take extra shoes with them. If you do not sit cross-wise, you will become a black sheep, and they will not understand you.
3. Let women carry weights on their own
In Russia, they forget about equality when it comes to heavy bags. If a woman, leaving the store, carries large bags to the car, the man should offer his help, because he is stronger physically. The same applies to the partner of the woman - if he does not offer help, most likely the woman will misunderstand him, and then he will remember this act. Therefore, if you want to seem polite and not find a look condemning you, help women with heavy bags!
2. To joke about parents
Russian people are politically incorrect. If you want, you can tell jokes about any stereotypes: whether gender or ethnic. But if you are going to tell a joke related to the parents of Russians, expect oblique glances. But at the same time, men often tell jokes to each other about an evil mother-in-law, because young couples do not have their own homes at the beginning of their life together. If a man moves to his girlfriend, then a tense relationship may appear between him and his mother-in-law.
1. Disrespectful with older people in public transport
The Russians, traveling around America, are very surprised that older people ride while standing in transport, while young people sit. But in America, if you offer your place to an older person, this may be considered an insult. In Russia, on the contrary, if an elderly person stands next to you young and you do not offer him your place, all people traveling with you in any kind of transport will look at you with condemnation. The same goes for pregnant women.
